Hand-cut by a Criostal na Rinne Master craftspeople the Trinity Arch Double Old Fashioned has complex curved cuts to represent the famous barrel-vaulted oak ceiling of the Long Room in the Old Library in Trinity College. A perfect gift for birthdays, graduation or retirement.
The Old Library building, home to the world-famous Book of Kells and the Long Room was built between the years 1712 and 1732. The architect Lieutenant-Colonel Thomas Burgh was a graduate of Trinity College.
Situated on the first floor of the Old Library, the Long Room is the longest, single-room library in Europe at 65 meters and contains over 200,000 of some of the oldest books in the library’s possession.
The famous barrel-vaulted oak ceiling dates from 1858 at a time when the bookshelves were full and the flat ceiling was removed and allowed for storage at the gallery level.
